🚌 By Bus
Combine APSRTC and TSRTC services, or look for Jatara specials during the festival.
Option 1 (via Khammam): APSRTC Vijayawada → Khammam (every 30 min, 3 hrs, ₹150–250). From Khammam, TSRTC bus to Medaram (100 km, ~2.5 hrs).
Option 2 (via Warangal): APSRTC Vijayawada → Warangal (4 hrs, ₹200–350). From Warangal, TSRTC Jatara specials to Medaram (90 km, ~2.5 hrs).
During Jatara: Some direct APSRTC services from Vijayawada to Medaram may operate. Check APSRTC website or bus station counter.
🚗 By Car / Cab
Route via Khammam (shorter): Vijayawada → Khammam (NH65) → Yellandu → Nuguru → Medaram
Route via Warangal (better roads): Vijayawada → Suryapet → Warangal → Mulugu → Medaram
Road condition: NH65 to Khammam is excellent 4-lane highway. After Khammam, roads narrow to 2-lane through hilly/forest terrain. Via Warangal route is better maintained throughout.
Fuel: Plenty of stops until Khammam/Warangal. After that, fill up at the last town before forest stretch.
🚂 By Train + Bus
Step 1: Train from Vijayawada Junction (BZA) to Khammam (KMT). Multiple daily trains, 2–3 hrs. Key trains: Godavari Express, Konark Express.
Step 2: From Khammam bus station, TSRTC buses to Medaram (100 km, ~2.5 hrs). During Jatara, special buses run frequently.
Alternative: Train to Warangal (3.5 hrs) for better TSRTC Jatara bus connectivity.

Khammam (~150 km)
Good mid-point if taking the southern route. Hotels near bus stand and railway station. Hotel Karthikeya, Hotel NRG Grand.
Warangal (~160 km)
Best base if taking the northern route. Widest hotel range. Also lets you visit Warangal Fort and Thousand Pillar Temple.
Bhadrachalam (~120 km from Medaram)
Famous Sri Rama temple town. Good option if combining Jatara with Bhadrachalam pilgrimage. TTDC Haritha Resort available.

- Coastal AP devotees from Guntur, Krishna, and Prakasam districts often organize group pilgrimages via local temples and bhajan mandalis.
- During Jatara, food stalls near Medaram serve both Telugu and AP coastal cuisines — you'll find familiar food.
- Start from Vijayawada by midnight or early morning to reach Medaram by dawn.
- Carry jaggery (bellam) for Bangaram offering from Vijayawada — better quality and cheaper than at the venue.
📍 Combine Your Trip
Bhadrachalam: Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple — 120 km from Medaram. One of the most famous Rama temples in South India. Can be visited on Day 1 or return day.
Bogatha Waterfall: "Niagara of Telangana" — 50 km from Medaram. Stunning cascade, best in monsoon/post-monsoon.
Kinnerasani Dam: Scenic reservoir near Khammam with wildlife sanctuary. Good for a 1-hour stop en route.
