About Sammakka Saralamma
Our Mission
Sammakka Saralamma aims to be the most comprehensive, accurate, and multilingual guide to the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara — Asia's largest tribal festival. We serve:
- Pilgrims planning their visit to Medaram
- Researchers studying Koya tribal traditions and South Indian folk religion
- Travellers exploring Telangana's cultural heritage
- The Indian diaspora seeking information about their ancestral traditions
Who We Are
Sammakka Saralamma is published by Indraprastha Innovations, an India-based digital publishing company specialising in cultural and heritage content that serves real community needs.
Editorial Standards
All content on this site is sourced from verified, official publications and community knowledge:
Government Sources
- Telangana State Tourism — official portal
- Press Information Bureau (PIB), India
- Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GOI
- GOI Utsav Portal — festival documentation
- Mulugu District Collectorate records
Community Sources
- Koya oral tradition — clearly attributed as such
- Published research on Deccan tribal cultures
- News reports from verified Indian media outlets
- Pilgrim firsthand accounts (attributed)
Where we include information from Koya oral tradition or community sources, we clearly attribute it. We do not present tribal oral history as verified historical fact — we present it as the living tradition it is.

Four Languages — Why?
The Sammakka Saralamma Jatara draws pilgrims from across South and Central India. We publish in four languages to serve the actual pilgrim communities:
English
For the NRI diaspora, international researchers, and English-speaking pilgrims across India.
తెలుగు (Telugu)
For pilgrims from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh — the core pilgrim base of the Jatara.
मराठी (Marathi)
For the large number of Maharashtra pilgrims, especially from Vidarbha, Nagpur, and Marathwada.
ಕನ್ನಡ (Kannada)
For pilgrims from Karnataka's northern districts bordering Telangana.
