🚂 By Train (Recommended)

The most comfortable option for the long journey. Multiple direct trains connect Nagpur and Warangal.

Key trains:

  • Dakshin Express (11013/11014) — Nagpur to Warangal, ~7 hrs
  • GT Express (12616) — via Balharshah, ~8 hrs
  • Nagpur–Hyderabad trains stopping at Kazipet Junction

Station: Alight at Warangal Junction (WL) or Kazipet Junction (KZJ) — both have good bus connectivity to Medaram.

From Warangal: TSRTC Jatara special buses to Medaram (90 km, ~2.5 hrs, ₹80–120).

Tip: Book Sleeper/3AC tickets 2–3 months in advance. Tatkal quota opens 1 day before at 10 AM.

🚗 By Car / Cab

Good option for groups of 3–4. Break the journey at Warangal.

Route: Nagpur → Adilabad → Nirmal → Mancherial → Karimnagar Bypass → Warangal → Mulugu → Medaram

Highways: NH44 (Nagpur to Mancherial) + NH163 (to Warangal) + State road to Medaram

Road condition: NH44 is excellent 4-lane highway. NH163 is good 2-lane. Forest road after Mulugu is narrow single-lane.

Fuel: Plenty of fuel stations on NH44. Last reliable pump at Mulugu before the forest stretch.

Tolls: 3–4 toll plazas, total ~₹400–500

💡 Tips for Maharashtra Pilgrims
  • Maharashtra pilgrims often travel in large groups by chartered bus — check with local temples and community groups for organized trips.
  • Marathi-speaking volunteers are present at Medaram during Jatara to assist Marathi pilgrims with directions and rituals.
  • Carry jaggery (गूळ/bellam) from home for the Bangaram offering — it's cheaper and better quality than what's sold near the venue.
  • The Jatara has a strong following in Vidarbha region — coordinate with Nagpur, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli devotee groups.
  • The Koya and Gond tribes of eastern Maharashtra share cultural ties with the Medaram Koyas — the Jatara resonates deeply with Vidarbha's tribal communities.
